About BNTU
History
The Belize National Teachers’ Union (BNTU) is a legally registered and recognized union representing teachers and employed persons of educational institutions at all levels in the country of Belize.
Before July, 1970 there were two separate teachers organizations known as the British Honduras Union of Teachers’ (BHUT) and the Catholic Education Association (CEA).

The Union drives most of its fund from the monthly dues of its members of which 60% of the dues goes to the central body

An upgrade Teachers’ Pension (Act) on par with that of the Public Service
Salaries upgrade on par with that of the Public Service based on the principle of Equal Pay for Equal Qualification, also considering years of experience.

Category 1 - $200 per month
Category 2 - $120 per month
Category 3 - $100.00 per month

3. Upgrading of House (Principals) - $300.00 (effective April 2013) and Responsibility Allowances (Principals & Vice- Principals – Primary Schools)
