The Belize National Teachers’ Union (BNTU) is a legally registered and recognized union representing teachers and employed persons of educational institutions at all levels in the country of Belize.
Before July, 1970 there were two separate teachers organizations known as the British Honduras Union of Teachers’ (BHUT) and the Catholic Education Association (CEA).
To be an organization of professional and trade union conscious workers that aspires for the best in educational standards
I will not willfully misrepresent my Union to the public.
I will encourage free participation of colleagues in my Union's affairs.
I will contribute actively to the programmes of my Union.
I will adhere to the Union's policies as laid down by my Union's Constitution and By-Laws, and as decided from time to time by constitutional means.
I accept as my professional obligation, to serve my Union at the branch, national and international levels.
I recognize that a professional organization such as Belize National Teachers' Union must accept responsibility for the conduct of its members and I understand that my own conduct may be regarded as representative.
To maintain a strong and vibrant organization by ensuring maximum membership involvement , well-trained competent and enlightened leadership and appropriate human, financial and physical support structures
