Stann Creek President Message

I am honored  to share this message on behalf of the Stann Creek Branch of BNTU, which has been one of the most vibrant and energized branches. The Stann Creek Branch   remains   committed,   dynamic and continues to grow in membership.  I proudly state that we are now the Branch with  the  second  highest  membership. It is with great conviction and confidence that I declare that the Membership of the Stann  Creek Branch respects, embraces and applies the principles on which unionism  is built.   We have never been more unified; we fully believe that every teacher should be treated  fairly and  we will confront any element that threatens the job security of our teachers.

We are truly  our  brothers  and  sisters  keepers. Our  members  value freedom of speech and freedom to assemble among all the other rights and freedoms vested in the Constitution   of  Belize.   Despite  being an old cliché, the phrase “knowledge is power” still rings true  in our  hearts as educators.  We must not only continue to share our  knowledge with our  students but with each other as well. We also should not  be comfortable with the knowledge we have gained; we must seek to acquire more knowledge in order for us to make informed  decisions that  will benefit us, our students and the entire country of Belize.  As the most powerful union  in the  country,  it  is  incumbent  upon  us to  remain  vigilant  and  knowledgeable, in  order  to  protect  our  best  interests.

On behalf of the Membership of the Stann Creek Branch, we invite all Members of the  BNTU to  respect  the  principles  of unionism,   familiarize  themselves  with the Constitution,  Vision and Mission of the Union, and what being a member of our prestigious union means.  Those are critically important in order for us to know who we are and  to never allow anyone to bring down our  union  and  discredit our union  in any way. Together we will remain   the  Mighty  Green  Machine!!!

Solidarity forever.
